Shades
was the puppy that stole my heart when he was four weeks old.
This litter was out of my two "baby" dogs (George and Scooby)
and I knew it would be a very special. The names of the puppies
in the litter were based on Scooby Doo characters and Shades'
puppy name was Fred. I kept telling everyone, I wanted a red
puppy from the litter, but this little black boy kept finding
my lap and then my heart. When people would come over they
would say, "Wow, there is something special about that boy." My
reply would be, "Yes, there is, and I guess he is staying here."
Shades has become my shadow. He is the sweetest dog you will
ever meet. He loves all dogs and all people. Shades believes
life is good. He loves to play ball and fetch. But, he would
rather jump on your lap and give you lots of licks with his
tongue.
In the conformation ring, Shades shows everyone he has that
something special. He easily finished his ASCA Championship
before he was a year old. I have specialed him here and there
in order to get him ready for when he is mature enough to hit
the show circuit as a special. At his first weekend showing
in AKC, Shades picked up two majors and a reserve out of the
Bred By class. The second weekend out, Shades showed at the
USASA Specialty and won Best of Winners for a 5 point major.
He finished his AKC Championship the following time in the
ring.
During the coming year, we will show Shades
in ASCA and AKC. He also will
be working on his obedience and rally titles. But, mostly he
will be here tugging on my heart strings which he has been
pulling from the beginning.
Shades will be bred one time
close to home for his first litter. Then will not stand to
outside girls till he is closer to4. That will give this litter
a few years to grow up and we can see what he can produce.
